The Most Heartbreaking Story Yet From the Waco Massacre

Melissa Owens tells a love story worthy of Nicholas Sparks watching Sleepless in Seattle. She and Bobby were high school sweethearts… they drifted apart after high school.. she went to college, he took four years of training to become a master electrician. When several years later she left a loveless marriage with her two boys in tow, she ran into her high school sweetheart, and it was like they had never been apart. She was afraid to tell him she has a disabled child.. but when she did, he said “I loved you since junior high.. I’m not going to stop now.”

Her crisp efficient voice fades into a dreamy sigh as she describes how this amazing man rode into her life like a white knight on a chrome horse. The first time Payden, her non verbal son, met Bobby, he immediately reached for him, threw his arms around his neck, and pointed at the motorcycle.  When Payden is wheeled out of the house in his wheelchair, he reaches out to touch the motorcycle. Her voice catches as she describes how Bobby took all the training necessary to help her care for her son..  She rattles off the intimidating words.. feeding tube, catherization, shots.. all the things that Bobby learned to do to help the woman and kids he loved so much so quickly. She tells how she works all day every day caring for 14 horses, and sometimes comes in to find Bobby fixing her dinner or taking care of her boys, or maybe curled up napping with Payden and his iPad on the couch.

Unfortunately, Melissa’s glass slipper slipped.. and fell crashing from her hand onto the floor of the Waco jail. She tearfully tells how some prisoners are to have court dates on June 5th, but the ones who don’t have court appointed attorneys have to wait until the first part of July… it seems that the city of Waco has decided to just work the bikers in whenever they can on their regular docket.

Bobby suffers from sleep apnea.. He cannot sleep in his breathing machine unless he agrees to stay in solitary confinement throughout his incarceration. Melissa is of course worried about his physical well being.

He is also the President of Distorted MC… she proudly tells me of the fundraiser held for her little boy by this club, and all the charities they hope to work for in the future.

“Bobby and I are childhood sweethearts. We lost touch after high school and got back in touch about 2 yrs ago. We need to go grow up and now that we have found each other again it was like coming home for the both of us. I am a single mom with twins, one of which is medically fragile. Bobby has a Heart the size of Texas, he has welcomed me and my boys into his life with no hesitation. Last June when we found out that Payden would need a kidney transplant, Bobby stepped into action to put together a Benefit to raise money for him. He worked selfless hours to make it happen for Payden. When Bobby had some time off work he came down to stay with myself and the boys. He learned how to care of all of Payden’s needs including breathing treatments, chest treatments, pulling and administering medicines, g-button care, chateteration, making Payden milk mixture, setting up his feeding pump and has attended many weekly therapy session a long with attending doctors appointments when he was not out of town working. Bobby always makes sure that we have our time even when we are raising our boys. He looks forward to giving back to the community and helping others. Bobby and I have personally attended several benefits in and around our hometown of Rockdale. Since his Motorcycle Club came together about 6 months ago we have helped with several benefits and charity rides. We hope to continue in the future. I also wanted to let you know that Bobby loves his family and would do anything to protect them. He would never put his family (me and the boys, or his Distorted family). In harms way.  I have had him come stand next to me because a gentleman at a benefit walked to close to comfort for him and did not like the way the man looked at me. He is a family man even though he has no children of his own. He is a man of character, kindness compassion and love.”

At the time of this print, Bobby has been in jail for ten days.. Even though he has no criminal record of any sort and belongs to a tiny family club, he is being held on a million dollar bond in Waco over a shootout he had nothing to do with except he happened to be standing in the parking lot when it occurred. Please pray for this man to get out of jail and get back to his family really soon… because right now, when Payden is wheeled out of the house, and when he reaches out to touch the motorcycle.. there is nothing there.

  2. Praying for you and your family sister. In the wind……

  3. Sandy Baye Says:

thoughts and prayers go out to our brothers n sisters that were ambushed in this senseless massacre by the Waco police and the residule bullshit that keeps occurring to those who survived. So sad….

  4. Christina Says:

Seeing his picture, he once helped me unload my basket of groceries and household items at Walmart on a rainy day while with my son whom is also a Special Needs Child.

  5. brenda garza Says:

This is almost too painful to read.. Most of the bikers I know are looking to use their love for bikes to make a difference in others people’s lives…I feel the pain of these folks…I don’t know what I would do….God bless all of you.. I will be praying for an immediate release..

  6. brenda garza Says:

Hey maybe we can all file a petition to let these folks get out of there or calling the Governor…If I thought it would make a difference I would do it…

    • Brad CHAOS Songer Says:

I would sign it and so would A LOT of other people.

    • I’m right there with you. Some were arrested without cause….

      • I was actually wondering if there was already a petition started, and if not I wanted to start one. I did not know Bobby, but I want him to be home with his family as well as every other innocent biker being punished for other people’s actions. Does anyone know if there is already one?

  7. Reblogged this on Professor Quicksand and commented:
    Truly an injustice- heartbreaking.

  8. Maybe the bike community can come together for a fundraiser to hire an attorney for these guys? Such a shame what the government is doing. They should be ashamed.

  9. Maybe the bike community can come up with a fundraiser to hire an attorney for some of these guys. The government should be ashamed of themselves.

  10. Jessica Sanchez Says:

Waco needs to get their shot straight and start releasing innocent people….due to this incident that Waco PD, DPS and other LE agencies created….a blood bath of INNOCENT husbands, dads, friends, ect…..Justice will prevail!

  11. I am praying for your family as well as all the others that were put in jail. So sorry. Something has got to be done!!!

  12. Neva (hdbabe) Smith Says:

I too will be praying for this father & kind biker dude to get out soon. I belong to an ALL WOMAN’s group, we too do many good things out in the real world. And so this is craZy to me. All that I have read, NO BIKER KILLED another BIKER or shot any cops. The Cops did all the killings. What is THEIR PUNISHMENT? Hopefully the Cops have a conscious & ask GOD for FORGIVENESS. Damn Cops anyways !

  13. I feel for the people caught up in the arrests, but these are not weekend motorcycle enthusiasts. Most of these people are criminals and miscreants who choose to drop out of normal society and embrace a lifestyle of drugs and violence. I stand behind our city leaders and applaud the fact that they chose to take a hard stance on this issue, I don’t particularly care for people coming into my city and shooting it up.

    • bullshit, MOST OF THESE PEOPLE are christian motorcyclists and veterans. 115 have no criminal records. most of those that do were shenanigans when they were teenagers. read up before you open your mouth.

      • The fact that they are christian doesn’t mean anything to me. Most Christians that I’ve met in my experience have turned out to be much less pious than they profess to be. I’m a veteran, a lot of people are, but being a veteran doesn’t make me or anyone else any better than someone who chose another path. If these were the Bloods and Crips shooting up the neighborhood you’d be right on board with me. In my opinion if you want to wear the colors, whether it be blue, red, or black and gold you better be ready to pay the piper when your buddies decide to open fire in a crowded public shopping mall. Would you still feel the same if some young child was killed, or an old man walking with his granddaughter? How do you explain more than 300 weapons found stashed everywhere including in a bag of chips? Ridiculous…

      • why do you believe everything an idiot cop said once, and not keep reading? they police department has already said that weapons story was a lie and “corrected it.”

    • Chris E. Says:

Wow, so much ignorance in this. Most of those are NOT criminals. Most of these men and woman arrested have no criminal record. You are an idiot.

    • dumbass Says:

You need to get your damn facts straight. You don’t know what happened there probably never even been in a biker club. Until u know keep ur mouth shut people like u r y all those innocent people r locked up

      • no, people like me are not the reason they are locked up. this article was written by a woman.. of course i never wore a patch, dumbass. i publish NOTHING without lots of research. these stories are coming from their wives. go fuck yourself.

    • Mr. burgess, have you seen any criminal records yourself? And will you be their judge and jury? From my news sources, it appears that it was only the LEOS shooting up your town. Maybe they should be locked up? Oh yeah, it is open season on citizens, I forgot!

    • 115 of the 172 had no criminal records. I’m going to strongly advise that people guard their comments here. Look up the record yourself Tom, please if your going to comment, do so in a factual manner. Litigation is in the works on civil cases here and respectfully I advise members of the Biker Community need not respond in a negative light as all comments will be gathered as evidence.

  14. Mindy Willett Says:

This is one of many heartbreaking stories. Some of these men did nothing wrong and were just hanging out with others that ride.

  15. Hey the coc is doing a fundraiser may 31 from 12 to 6 at hanovers in pflugerville texas for the support and help to all those arressted for attorny fees, medical belp, bills, etc. Please all of u try and make it

  16. Jason Parsons Says:

This is copied off the FBI and is the definition of things these people are being accused of. As a Marine who took an oath to defend the constitution and those in this country, I am beyond angry at the way these people are being treated and their good names trashed by the media and law enforcement in Waco. I see this as something you would see in a third world country not in a country that has laws in place to protect against this kind of tyranny. When is the state and federal government going to step in and put an end to this. When are they going to quit turning their back on those who fought with honor for this country. I myself am not a member of any MC though I know many who are. Those I know don’t condone nor participate in anything criminal just like just about every one of those who were wrongly arrested. I am a member of an elite group known as a veteran. Nobody can ever change that. We stand together we fight together and we die together and we leave no one behind. I am here to stand by my brothers and sisters and the citizens of this nation who have been arrested in Waco. I pray for the families who lost loved ones and those who are dealing with this legal fiasco.

    Criminal Enterprise

The FBI defines a criminal enterprise as a group of individuals with an identified hierarchy, or comparable structure, engaged in significant criminal activity. These organizations often engage in multiple criminal activities and have extensive supporting networks. The terms Organized Crime and Criminal Enterprise are similar and often used synonymously. However, various federal criminal statutes specifically define the elements of an enterprise that need to be proven in order to convict individuals or groups of individuals under those statutes.

The Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) statute, or Title 18 of the United States Code, Section 1961(4), defines an enterprise as “any individual, partnership, corporation, association, or other legal entity, and any union or group of individuals associated in fact although not a legal entity.”

The Continuing Criminal Enterprise statute, or Title 21 of the United States Code, Section 848(c)(2), defines a criminal enterprise as any group of six or more people, where one of the six occupies a position of organizer, a supervisory position, or any other position of management with respect to the other five, and which generates substantial income or resources, and is engaged in a continuing series of violations of subchapters I and II of Chapter 13 of Title 21 of the United States Code.

    Organized Crime

The FBI defines organized crime as any group having some manner of a formalized structure and whose primary objective is to obtain money through illegal activities. Such groups maintain their position through the use of actual or threatened violence, corrupt public officials, graft, or extortion, and generally have a significant impact on the people in their locales, region, or the country as a whole.

    Significant Racketeering Activity

The FBI defines significant racketeering activities as those predicate criminal acts that are chargeable under the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations statute. These are found in Title 18 of the United States Code, Section 1961 (1) and include the following federal crimes:

BriberySports BriberyCounterfeitingEmbezzlement of Union FundsMail FraudWire FraudMoney LaunderingObstruction of JusticeMurder for HireDrug TraffickingProstitutionSexual Exploitation of ChildrenAlien SmugglingTrafficking in Counterfeit GoodsTheft from Interstate ShipmentInterstate Transportation of Stolen Property

Jason Parsons i can tell you are one hell of a upright citizen and a very dedicated veteran Thanks for your service and thanks so much for the input you have obviously worked so hard to get together and post for all of us to read. I am no biker by no means but know ones who are my ex son in law is a biker served 23 yrs, in the United States Marine Corp. In my eyes he is AWESOME a very dedicated man in everything he does or sets out to do. Has done so much to help little children where as otherwise they would have had no Christmas , in my eyes a lot of citizens have been helped because he and his biker friends dedicated their time and love to help. May God Bless all these bikers who have done so much !!! For others!!!! God bless all their families who are missing them and waiting for them to come home and be husband or Dad again. My prayers are with all of them, and also prayers for all the haters who are judging them and showing no remorse for what the Waco PD chose to do that dreadful Sunday afternoon in Waco Texas!!!! For those that believe in God and pray I promise justice will prevail we were promised that!!!! God Bless all the innocent

  17. CONNIE HATAWAY Says:

the only thing i can say as being a mom of a son that wears colors is what if the police had not been there how many more would we be morning for i know far to well people can be at the wrong place at the wrong time the waco police with all there helped SAVED LIVES

  18. CONNIE HATAWAY Says:

ive been around bikers 45 years i know some are good most ; but some arent ive lost freinds to some of the bad ones to were they were at the wrong place at the wrong time all dont think the same just speaking from experience

    • BoomChic Says:

You just said it. You are speaking from experience and not what is actually happening in Waco. Thinking with your heart and not your head is very dangerous.

  19. Phyllis Wilson Says:

This is so sad. I so hope all the bikers that were really not involved are not punished. Like everything else it takes one bad apple to ruin it for the rest! I will pray for Bobby and the others that were simply at the wrong place at the wrong time. God speed on those court dates and good luck, there are people that care about bikers.

  20. Isnt there a law that says the Bonds can be reduced if the person in jail can not afford the High BOnd? I had a friend in jail. the judge lowered the Bond amount so he could bail out. but had to file the proper paper work

  21. Carol MDaniel Says:

Bobby is such a sweet caring person. I an assure you he was not part of the shoot out. Any bikers who were involved in the shootings etc I have no sympathy for, but Bobbie isn’t one of them. I am sure it is difficult to sort out who the bad actors were from the innocent bike riders who simply love riding. My heart goes out to Bobby.

  23. […] Biker author Amy White, is beginning to post the stories of their loved ones – thus far here, here, here and […]

  24. Were you there? If you were, then comment on, if not, then I would suggest that what you have to say is OPINION only. I’m not a law enforcement official and do not pretend to know how the legal system works, but I would imagine that they could not stand in the parking lot and say, “hmmm, you look guilty and you look guilty and oh yeah you too. The rest of you are all free to leave because this person over here said you were not involved”. No matter how much anyone wants to make Waco into a huge metropolis such as Dallas or Houston, and get these “innocents” back home quickly, sadly, it is not and it is going to take time.

    • In my cousins 43 years in the police department, he asserts that NO POLICE ARE TRAINED TO EVER SHOOT INTO AN OPEN CROWD! I know the facts are not all in, just wait until the eyewitness accounts start accumulating. We will never know the whole truth, but since police were the only shooters, all casualties in this massacre were head and truck shots. Let’s stick with the fact as we know them.

  25. Tom Burgess im sorry to tell you bet you watch too much television bikers are not the way in real life as they are in the movies bikers do more for this societyDanny majority and the people in this world do BIkers have put on tons of benefits 4 people that they have never even met before they have benifits for cancer patients benefits for Rape and abused people Shit dude bikers wheel guard a rape or an abused victim until I suspect is caught and put in prison 24 hours a day bikers help the homeless By making sure they are fed they make sure people that can’t afford Thanksgiving or Christmas have amazing holidaysthey have benefits for orphanages a lot of the bikers have served this country to make sure you have the freedom that you have have you ever helped out as many people as Bikers have probably not. One of my aunts rode with the banditos in the 70’s she was an amazing woman until the day she died you can’t judge somebody else unless you’ve walked in their shoes they have civil rights also they are human beings just like you are but the law could have prevented what happened on that horrible day just like they could have prevented what happened with the Branch Davidians in Mount calm the majority of the law is only here for that paycheck and you act like they are better than everybody I tell them that I’m never calling them again I’ve been needing them for 3 years to keep my neighbor from harassing me and they said he is allowed to the last straw with that situation he stoled my dog a little chihuahua he said he was going to kill it and they did nothing about it because they said he said he didn’t do it and if you didn’t know it the bikers that passed away died from gunshot wounds to the head I’m sorry but that is from the snipers not the other bikers I know a few good Cops that are from the town that I live in one of them lives across the field from me but that’s all I have to say you are a mean person and God is the only person that is allowed to judge somebody not you all these bikers have families that you should apologize to which I know you won’t but that’s okay they know there are hateful people out here and you are one of them

  26. Samantha Hands Says:

This woman left her husband (and took his two kids from him) for a man who is in a biker gang. Whether it’s a loveless marriage or not, it’s still wrong on both her part and the biker’s. Karma has a way of creeping up on people. I hope her ex-husband is able to take his kids back because they don’t need to be around that. You can paint this guy out to be a good guy all you want, but he was there and he knew there was tension between the groups. He should’ve stayed at home like the rest of the ones who were “at the wrong place at the wrong time.”

    • no she fucking didn’t. what my sources say is that her husband was never there for her, never did anything with her children, and was basically a piece of shit. Her ol man is NOT IN A BIKER GANG. idiots like you make me wish it wasnt illegal to shoot people.

      • Tell Samantha about it Wicked Bitch she probably dont know shit she just has to mouth do you Samantha know any of the people that is being profiled morelikly not well I do and they DO NOT belong in there they will find out that it was a sniper who killed them men in that parking lot and Samantha did you live in her home to know how her marriage was im sure IF you are married your husband is saying why the fuck did i marry this bitch and if its a loveless marriage she needed to leave him

      • It was a massacre, let’s call their bluff . Ladies I urge you to turn your efforts to writing letters and accurate petitions (those with singularly written, valid and legal binding names and addresses) to present as legal movement toward freedom on the wrongfully jailed. Let’s make calls, write letters, be vocally proactive. Long term waves of oppression are looming. If the Biker Community can be corralled up like animals and taken, the most “notorious ” group, then it’s open game on ALL GROUPS to be taken as well. This isn’t just about bikers! IT’ S ABOUT A VIOLATION OF CIVIL RIGHTS, DUE PROCESS, OUR RIGHT OF REPRESENTATION AND DEFENSE, RIGHT TO RECEIVE MEDICAL TREATMENT, FOOD, CLOTHING, etc. WAKE UP AND PREPARE. Educate yourself. They’ve been coming and they are here.

    • You should check your fucking facts….and keep your mouth shut…you are probably the bitch the husband was cheating with.

  27. Debra roller Says:

I am so sorry you and your family are being treated like this. I am so sorry for your struggles. And even more sorry for your pain. Know that in my heart and the hearts of so many out here watching all this BS that Waco had put on. And it’s WACOS DRAMA, that we are in pain with you. Sharing your sorrow and just like you not comprehending why they are picking on such wonderful people who just love to live life. Our prayers are with you and your family. And I KNOW God will punish those that deserve it for their rolls in this madness.

  28. When I read this I couldn’t believe this is happening in our Country, but not in the Great State of Texas! !! This whole Waco thing has been distorted, and I wouldn’t be surprised if Waco will face a huge lawsuit . I believe the public has been lied to about this whole mess. And according to News souces most of the biker they locked up, don’t even have a criminal record..I hope Bobby and the rest will get out real soon!!!

  29. Please let our people go! They are harmless law biding family’s. No record, just at the wrong place at the wrong time. A million for bail. This is crazy.

  30. 1 Million dollar bonds?
Read the 8th amendment to the Constitution.
The only reason they are getting away with that crap is because we let them.

  31. Good job Amy. We are fighting for them here in Texas! We are also fighting for the rights of ALL bikers because what happened in Waco must never be allowed to happen again to ANY patched club. That includes III% ers and many more.

  32. There is a really interesting announcement just made on the 2 Million to DC facebook page.

    • the 2 milllion are a bunch of idiots. they have been told to stay the fuck away and they refuse to comply… their louisiana admin was making cracks about he woulda been on the cops side that day.

      • I was referring to the press release sent to them and posted about how the DA is offering extortion bond reductions to those illegally detained if they waiver their rights to sue. Another message from Bowtie
